Adult Sewing Classes Sewing 101 This class is geared for the first time student,
or for the student who has not sewn since high school. As you make your garment, you will learn fundamental sewing skills
that are applicable to all facets of sewing. This class focuses on how to take proper measurements, pattern fitting,
and fabric and notion selection. Basic fitting techniques, pattern layout, how to fully operate a sewing machine, garment
construction, and finishing techniques will also be taught. If possible, all students should bring their own machine.
Arrangements can be made upon registration for those who cannot provide their own sewing machine.
Sewing 102 Intermediate
Sewing prerequisite: Sewing 101 **Homework maybe required** This class is for the advanced beginner that has completed
Sewing 101. Our focus is your focus. Techniques taught are based on your choice pattern. Fabric should be cut, patterns should
be properly fitted and ready to be assembled prior to class. Tailored Pant prerequisite: Sewing 102 **Some homework
required** This class will be centered on detail and accuracy in developing tailored techniques. See outline for pattern
selection. Pattern should be pre-fitted and cut prior to class.
Tailored Shirt prerequisite: Sewing 102 This
class will instruct you in professional techniques of tailoring, including interfacing, setting sleeves, collar lay,
and pressing techniques. Our concentration will be geared toward detail and stitch accuracy.
Sewing Knits Prerequisite: Sewing 102 Join us as we unlock the mystery of knitted fabrics. As you learn the proper combination
and blend of NSST you will always be able to sew any knit fabric with great success.

Get to Know Your Machine Learn how to use your machine
to its full capacity. You must bring your complete machine, manual, and all accessories.
Open Sewing These workshops are designed for all level sewers that may need assistance with a sewing project. If you need help altering
a garment, you could have a group project in mind, or you may come in to begin or finish a project.
Introduction
to the Serger This class is designed to give you step by step hands on instruction on the complete function of a serger.
You will be taught serger fundamentals as well as how to create quick simplified decorative techniques. You
must bring your serger, manual and all accessories. With an additional fee, a serger can be reserved upon registration.
Serger Club prerequisite: Introduction to the Serger Serger club is geared for serger-constructed garments
to be completed within a 2 1/2 hour session. All garments must be cut out prior to class, with any stabilizers attached,
and ready to be serger assembled.
Swimwear Unable to find the right fit and color? Join us for this bathing

Design Your Own Fabric The focus of this class is own learning through hands-on developmental
techniques. The use of proper needles, threads, and tensions combined with various decorative concepts will be mastered as
you design a beautiful piece of fabric. Metallic, Silver, Variegated, Wooley Nylon threads, Topstitch needles, Metafil needles?...No
problem! Design your own fabric with complete originality.
Children's Sewing Classes
Children's Basic
Sewing The beginning of a lifetime skill is offered in children's basic sewing. This class gives children the chance
to master measuring, reading, marking, cutting, operating a sewing machine. Students will make four projects in just four
weeks or two four hour classes.
Children's Crafts This is a quick fun to finish class for children that love
to make crafts.
18'' American Doll prerequisite: Children's Sewing level 2 Doll and bear clothing... create
originals and learn to make your own patterns. This class will feature a trunk show of fur coats, skirts, dresses, pants,
tops, formal wear, and more.
Kids Can Sew & Craft Camp The Sewing Institute's summer program for children
consists of sewing, needle art, and crafts. This program promises to be a noncompetitive, fun-filled learning experience for
children 7 and up. Students will be introduced to concepts of color and style, they will learn how to operate a sewing machine,
proper usage of craft and sewing related tools, and safety. They will also learn valuable social skills as they interact with
their peers.
Mommy & Me Crafts This fun class for mommy & me allows you to enjoy each other's company
while sharing in the process of completing a craft.
Needleart, Crafts & Quilts
Counted Threads Learn basic needlepoint. This class focuses on mastering the basics by repetition.
Assorted Knitting
Assorted knitting is available for the beginner, intermediate or advanced knitter. All projects and levels are welcome
in this class. A beginner will learn basic stitches, pattern reading, choosing correct yarn, and the proper tool needed
to be a successful knitter. An intermediate knitter will learn how to properly develop various stitches, interpret patterns,
and focus on refining techniques. The advanced knitter's focus will be on polishing and finishing techniques in order to produce
a quality product.
Crocheted Projects An afghan, scarf, or shawl, choose your project. You bring the project
and we'll give you the needed hands on step-by-step instruction.

Quilting:Intro to Machine-Piecing Prerequisite: Sewing 101 Learn to machine-piece well loved traditional quilt blocks to make your own lap-sized quilt top. You will purchase your
fabric and tools at Fabricland during the first class. Emphasis will be on building confidence in piecing blocks and safe
use of rotary cutting tools. During the final class, sashing and borders will be added to complete you top. Quilting options
will be discussed.
"One Night Strand" Quilt Prerequisite: Sewing 101 Yes, you can make a
quilt in just one night! Our "One Night Strand" quilt is fast, fun, and functional. All you need to bring
to class is a sewing machine and basic sewing supplies. In this class you will learn the basics of cutting, piecing, assembling,
quilting, and finishing. You will probably want to make this quick quilt more than once! Tools of the trade will be demonstrated
and general fabric and color theory will be revised.
Home Decorations Prerequisite for all Home Dec. Courses:

Decorator Pillows Learn how to construct a basic pillow applying welting, a zipper, or a
fringe trim.
Balloon Valances Select a fabric that enhances your home décor and learn the simple techniques
in making a custom shade.
Duvet Cover Color coordinate and create a duvet cover to enhance your bedroom ensemble.
Complete your duvet cover in one class. Optional trim applications will be taught.
Headboards As a finishing
touch, a fabric headboard can be coordinated with our bedcover and complete the look of your bedroom. Learn the steps needed
to properly pad and construct a shirred.
Roman Shades Bring elegance into the home as you learn how to pull
proper colors, trim, and the look of a Roman shade together. This hands on class gives you the steps you need to complete
a Roman shade and beautify your home.
