Lynne Blanks, the owner/operator and Director of Education at The Sewing Institute, has an extensive sewing background. She began making doll clothing at the age of six, and further developed her skills during summers spent with her grandmother. In high school elective classes, Lynne studied clothing construction, tailoring, and industrial power sewing. Lynne holds a degree in Fashion Merchandising, certificates from Bernina of America University, and has attended several training seminar update courses in computerized sewing machine technology. Much of her experience was gained in the garment industry. This experience included managing a sample design department, designing, writing specifications for garment construction, grading, and drafting patterns from concept to completion. In addition to her experience in the garment industry, Lynne has 25+ years of experience teaching, training, and directing educational programs. For several years, she was the Director of Education for Fabricland. In this position, Lynne instructed many students in developmental sewing techniques and various forms of clothing instruction.
